Deceptive Dinos is a Blooket gamemode that released on May 9th, 2022 during Season 3 along with the Dino Pack. It is very similar to Crypto Hack in its game form, where you either try to excavate as many fossils and also cheat, or you could investigate and scan other players to try and see if the person cheated to excavate better fossils. When you answer a question right, you get to choose between to either excavate or to investigate. If you choose to excavate, you will have four options, and 3 of them are rocks which either have a random fossil or a multiplier inside them (Similarly Gold Quest and Santa's Workshop but with rocks), and the last button is the Cheat button. This button lets you cheat once and see all the fossils/multipliers inside all 3 of the rocks. However, if you get caught cheating, you'll lose a large amount of your fossils.
If you choose to investigate, it will give you a full list of players in the game. You may choose one of them to investigate. After you click the person you want to investigate, it takes about 3 seconds to show you if the player is cheating or not. If they are cheating, it will say:
CHEATER
and you will get some of the cheater's fossils, but if they aren't cheating, then it will say:
CLEAR
and you will not get anything from it (wasted question).
In 2025, the gamemode was temporarily disabled for a rework to be happening. This changed many things, as making the game hack-proof, making the game into a detective board, and more. Learn more here.

Deceptive Dinos Rework[]
Deceptive Dinos, temporarily disabled
Deceptive Dinos was temporarily disabled on July 1st, 2025 until July 3rd, 2025. The reason is quite unknown but this is likely because you can easily cheat in this gamemode with no exceptions.
The rework made Deceptive Dinos into one of the more modern gamemodes, where it has a better correct screen with confetti, made it into a kind of like a detective board, changed the multiplier logos, and made it so you get 2 Tokens & XP every question, similar to Laser Tag and a few other new gamemodes.
This is the second out of four gamemodes to be reworked, the first being Racing, and the rest with at least Solo mode.
List of reworked features[]
- Made Time the default choice
- Added In-game settings to adjust to new gamemode attributes
- Leaderboard can be seen by holding the button
- Modified Graphics and Buttons to make it look more like a prehistoric theme
- Banning Blooks is a new option
- Max questions to score limit is 150
Prior to the rework, being caught cheating would re-roll the contents of the rocks. This allowed a strategy wherein a player could scan the rocks, be caught cheating, and scan the rocks again for a better chance of gaining a multiplier. As of the rework, being caught cheating no longer re-rolls rocks.
In October 30, it was temporary disabled again along with Racing and Busy Bees.
Trivia[]
- The format of Deceptive Dinos is similar to Crypto Hack, Gold Quest, Candy Quest, Shamrock Quest, Busy Bees and Santa's Workshop.
- Unlike those game modes, there is no "Nothing" ability, nor an ability that doubles or triples your current amount in Deceptive Dinos, as well as taking how many percent of fossils from players. There are, however, fossil income multipliers.
- The gamemode title has a Dino Egg Blook on the letter O.
- This is the only gamemode where a soundtrack is orchestral.
- Deceptive Dinos and Racing are the only Hosting only gamemodes with rework.
- The soundtrack for this gamemode is actually a heavily altered version of the Jurassic Park/World theme in the ending part.
- Before rework, the symbol for the currency is a bone. After the rework however the currency is instead a Fossil head.
- This is currently the only game mode where players can 'Cheat'.
- The pack that is used for Deceptive Dinos is the Dino Pack, as the dinosaurs in the Dino Pack are the most related Blooks to the game mode.
- Similarly to Crypto Hack, the only way that you can lose items is if a player catches you cheating. There is no "lose 25%" or "lose 50%" like there is in Gold Quest/Candy Quest/Shamrock Quest.
- Multipliers can stack, though it is unknown how many times. Chances are that it is 9,007,199,254,740,99, the maximum safe integer in javascript. Any calculation above that can cause inaccurate results.
- This is the second out of five gamemodes to be reworked. The first being Racing, the third being Crazy Kingdom, the fourth being Factory, the fifth being Cafe and so on.
